About Lizzie
Lizzie Houghton trained as a Fashion Designer. She is now very enthusiastic felt maker.
She lived for very many years in East London, on the edge of Epping Forest, teaching her many textiles skills, both in Adult Education, and running workshops from her garden studio. In 2013 she moved with her husband, to Penzance in the far West of Cornwall. She continues to make felt clothes and accessories .She exhibits and sells in The Maker's Emporium, a co-op gallery in St Just in Penwith, where up to 20 members share the running of it, all with individual art and craft
A love of colour, pattern, textures, and natural forms combined with luxury natural fabrics are Lizzie’s greatest inspiration. She creates ‘one off’ jackets, hats, scarves, cushions, and other decorative items, incorporating her printing, dyeing and machine embroidery skills. She continues to experiment widely with hand rolled felt and Nuno felting techniques adding silks and velvets, usually hand dyeing her fabrics and wool fibres.
